BREAKING: Five Arabs arrested in London in plot to harm Pope

Police arrested five men in a dawn raid today after receiving information they were plotting to harm the Pope.

The suspects were arrested by Scotland Yard at 5.45am at business premises in central London and are now being questioned by counter-terror detectives.

Searches are under way at properties across the capital but Benedict XVI's schedule in the city is currently continuing as planned.

The men were arrested by officers from the Met's Counter Terrorism Command.

The suspects, aged 26, 27, 36, 40 and 50, were held under the Terrorism Act 2000 at business premises in central London.

They were taken to a central London police station, where they will be interviewed by detectives. According to reports, they may be of Arabic origin and were not known to police.
